History of Fisher Brown Bottrell Insurance, Inc.

A customer is the most important person ever…”

Service that goes above and beyond what is expected…”

The guiding principles of the above statements are the foundation our Agency is based upon . Our history is one of bringing these words to life through action for our clients.

Created by the merger of two innovative and long-respected agencies, Fisher Brown Bottrell Insurance, Inc., provides comprehensive insurance solutions to a diverse business and personal clientele base throughout the Southeastern United States. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Trustmark Bank, a publicly traded financial services company with over 133 locations and over 2000 associates in Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee and Texas.

When the first State highway surety bond was needed back in 1936, a two-person insurance agency founded that same year in Jackson, Mississippi, provided the solution. From that time, Bottrell Insurance would go on to became one of the most stable and distinguished independent insurance agencies in the Southeast. Having established a historical niche in commercial insurance and bonding, in 1999, Bottrell merged with Trustmark Bank. In 2002, Chandler Sampson Insurance brought additional niche practices in professional and public entity risk management when it was acquired by Bottrell.

On May 5, 1911, three days before the U.S. Navy ordered its first plane to be delivered to Pensacola, thus making it the “Cradle of Naval Aviation,” a small firm by the name of L.S. Brown Insurance Agency began selling property and casualty insurance in the Greater Pensacola Area. Later that year, the Fisher Real Estate and Insurance Agency, after purchasing L.S. Brown Insurance, joined forces with Hunter Brown and formed a new agency called Fisher Brown Insurance. For over a century, Fisher Brown has provided insurance solutions for its clients living and doing business in the coastal areas of the Florida Panhandle. With historical niche emphasis in hospitality, construction and healthcare, in 2004, Fisher Brown merged with Trustmark Bank.

Today, Fisher Brown Bottrell ranks as one of the largest bank owned agencies in the United States, with over 180 associates and Mississippi offices in Jackson, Tupelo and Hattiesburg and Florida offices in Pensacola, Destin and Panama City.
